Neurofeedback Therapy for ADHD, Anxiety, and Trauma

Neurofeedback therapy is a non-invasive, drug-free approach that teaches the brain to recognize and settle into healthier patterns of activity. At CTT Wellness, neurofeedback is offered in person at our Oakville clinic, for adults and children navigating ADHD, anxiety, PTSD, autism, sleep disruption, and other concerns that have not fully shifted with talk therapy or medication alone.

What If Your Brain Could Learn to Feel Better?

Some patterns don’t shift with talking alone. The anxiety that keeps circling back. The focus slips the moment you need it. The sleep that never quite comes. A child whose meltdowns confuse even the professionals trying to help. Neurofeedback works with the brain directly, teaching it to recognize and settle into healthier patterns on its own. It isn’t medication, and it isn’t a procedure. It’s training. And like any skill worth learning, it builds quietly, session by session, until the change starts to feel like you.

What Is Neurofeedback Therapy?

Neurofeedback is a non-invasive, drug-free way to train the brain. Small sensors placed on the scalp read your brainwave activity in real time. When your brain produces healthier patterns, the system gives you gentle feedback through sound or visuals. Over time, the brain learns to hold those patterns on its own. It’s based on neuroplasticity, the brain’s natural ability to adapt and change.

This approach is also known as EEG neurofeedback, because the sensors read your brain’s electrical activity — the same kind of signals measured by an electroencephalogram (EEG). Some clinics begin with qEEG brain mapping, which compares your brainwave patterns against a normative database to help personalize the protocol. We can talk through whether brain mapping is part of your specific plan during your consultation.

What Neurofeedback Can Help With

Neurofeedback therapy can support a wide range of concerns in both adults and children. It is often chosen by people who have tried other approaches and want something that works directly with the brain. Results vary, but many clients notice steadier focus, calmer emotions, better sleep, and a greater sense of control in everyday life.

What to Expect During a Neurofeedback Session at CTT

Your session takes place in a quiet, comfortable room. You sit back in a chair while your therapist places small sensors on your scalp using a gentle gel or soft cap. Nothing goes into the brain. You simply watch a screen or listen to audio while the system responds to your brainwave activity in real time. Most clients feel relaxed throughout. Children often find sessions genuinely engaging, almost like a quiet video game. Sessions typically run 30 to 45 minutes, and you can return to your day immediately after, no downtime required.

Where Neurofeedback Is Offered

three dots - green, purple and blue
Neurofeedback therapy is offered in person at our Oakville clinic, where the specialized equipment and our neurofeedback-trained therapists are based. Because the technology requires in-person sensor placement, neurofeedback cannot currently be delivered virtually or in your community. If you are located outside the Oakville area, our team can talk through whether neurofeedback is worth the commute for you or your child, and whether other approaches we offer at clinics closer to you might be the right fit.

If you live elsewhere in Ontario, our team can also discuss complementary approaches — including HeartMath biofeedback, somatic therapy, and trauma-informed therapy — that may be available closer to home.

Curious If Neurofeedback Is the Right Fit?

Whether you are an adult who has tried talk therapy or medication and is looking for something different, or a parent wondering whether neurofeedback could help your child, a free 15-minute consultation is a low-pressure way to ask questions, share what you are navigating, and learn whether brain training therapy might be worth exploring.

Neurofeedback is offered in person at our Oakville clinic. We work with both adults and children, and our team is happy to talk through what to expect before you commit to anything.
